The RRC collects and reports monthly on Texas oil and
gas production data.
The data gathered is from a combination of the reports that
the RRC requires oil and gas producers, liquid gatherers,
and transporters to file each month. You indicate the
type of information you wish to see on
the General Query Criteria screen. Data fitting
your specifications is gathered and displays on Results screens.
Query Screens
There are two query screens:
- General Query returns
more broad production information.
- Specific Lease
Query returns production information
about a specific
lease.
General Query Criteria Screen
Use the General Query Criteria screen
to find statewide or area (county, district, field) production
information, or
information about a field, lease, or operator for
which you do not have a name or number. Begin
your search with any information you have, then search
the results to find a specific district, county,
field, operator, or lease. The search criteria is
a way to specify what information you want to see out of all
the production data that is there. The more criteria you specify,
the more limited the results may be,
but more relevant. Using the highest level search, Statewide,
will return large amounts of data, particularly if you
specify a wide date range.

General Query Criteria Options
Making selections on the General Query Criteria screen is how you tell
the system what information to gather. The options on the General
Query Criteria screen are described as follows:
Initial
View indicates the kind of data that will display in
the forefront on the initial results screen. You will
have access to the other types of data;
this is the information that
appears on top. This is a required field and you may
select only one of the following options: Lease, Operator,
Field, County or District.
Date Range indicates the
period of time for which you wish to see production data.
Select a beginning month
and year and an ending month
and year. The option to select a different date range is
on every results screen, so you can look at production volumes
from different blocks of time, still utilizing the initial
query criteria. Select a date by clicking the
drop-down arrows beside
each month and year option and select your choices from the
lists. The ending date must be greater than or equal to the
beginning date. Date Range is a required field.
Choose One indicates whether you wish to see oil
production only, gas production only, or both. The product
type is a required field.
Geographical Region specifies
the area of Texas for which you wish to view production data.
The options are:
- District (which includes Statewide)
- Onshore
County
- Offshore area
- Field
You may choose only one
of these options. If you specify Statewide, which is
available from the District option, you may have to search
through large amounts of information
to find your information. Also, depending on the date
range specified, the query could take a few minutes. Click
County/District List to see the list of districts
with associated counties, if you need to look up a district.
You cannot enter a field name or number in the Field text box
on the initial query criteria screen. Search for Field lets
you search for a field name or exact matching field number.
You
must
enter at
least three characters in the search Field text box, the
second or third of which can be a space. Wildcard searches
are not
supported.
Limit Query to a Specific Operator further
filters the search criteria specified. You can search for
an Operator
by name or exact matching operator number. You must enter at
least three characters in the search Operator text box, the
second or third of which can be a space. Wildcard searches
are not
supported.
You cannot enter an Operator Name or Number in
the Operator text box on the initial query criteria screen;
you must perform an operator search.
Query Messages
If you specify query criteria for which there is no production
data, you get a "No Matches Found" message. This indicates
that there was no production filed for that date range,
or geographical region, or operator if you specified that
in your search criteria. See the following example showing
where that message appears on the screen:
